lynne-fiddmont-1

Groovy People making Groovy music gets us into a groove of life, you can’t help but move your hips and lips as you feel Lynne music deep down in your soul, come hear what drives her and all about the Power of LOVE.

Vessels of love come no bolder, brighter or more beautiful than multifaceted singer / songwriter / arranger / producer Lynne Fiddmont. All that pours forth from her essence is compassion and creativity of purest purpose beauty. Over a career that has seen her glide gracefully from sharing her vocal gifts at the service of world class artists such as Stevie Wonder, Natalie Cole, Bill Withers, Phil Collins, Barbara Streisand, George Duke and Joe Zawinul to recording her own lovingly crafted projects Flow and Lady: A Tribute to Billie Holiday, Lynne generously ladles on the love, the laughter, and the longitude in an artistic situation. Her fourth album, Power of Love, speaks to the many hues and dimensions of matters of the heart be it the brotherhood/sisterhood of global human existence or the slippery sensual space between lovers that shuts the world out like the most delicious of kisses.

The power of Love is an exquisitely balanced collection of hand-picked classic R&B covers that reveal some of Lynne’s influences and mentors, along with her freshly penned original soul songs that amplify and reflect precisely how those inspirations have helped to shape who she is today – as an artist and as a woman.

“I’m always thinking, ‘How did I get here,’” Lynne confesses. “There are so many great artists. How come I am here right now? Part of this project is about me going back to the songs that started me loving music. Too many younger people have been missing out on them, so I try to bridge that gap. The another part of this project is about how I feel as I look around and wonder, ‘What in the world is happening in the world?’ I want to send a message of love to counter all the hate.”

16-51&52 Seed, Water, Nurture 2017 Possibilities

Sara Troy on Sara’s View of Life, on air from December 20-January 2nd

seeding

We have worked hard to for fill our dreams, to build our platform, to reach those goals. The Year 2017 is the year where the harvest will grow higher enough to pick and abundance will be achieved.

I have been on this journey for nearly 5 years, and when I first started out in radio blogging, I had no idea it would be what it is today and I am so proud of how far I have come. From that first show back in April 2012, I have made many discoveries about myself along the way, one of them being “Yes I can do it, I can reach my dreams.”

When I first started out I knew nothing, it was all by the seat of my pants, winging it as they say. Now with a very clear vision, I see where I want to go, what needs to be achieved now, and I see before me the path to my accomplishment.

The one thing I know above all else is that I am doing what I was designed to do in life,  this is my calling my meaningful purpose and I am just getting started.  The vision I see before me, the cohesive, harmonious collaborations already in play, the symphony of my choir is singing its song loud and clear.

So come hear what 2017 means for Self Discovery Radio, for me and for all of us, for I am doing this to serve all of you. I have seeded, watered nurtured for nearly 5 years, and now growth is before me, serving us as a whole, as a community as a global concern.

aaeaaqaaaaaaaaj_aaaajdvmnzrhzdlmlwziyzatndvhzi1hotzjltbknjy0ogqxytg5ng Nicholas Man; As a kid I never really tried in school. With 2 Chinese immigrant parents, I’m sure you could get the idea that they thought School was the only path to success. Well now that I’m running my own digital marketing company, I don’t completely agree with them. I believe they confused 2 terms together, school and knowledge; you need knowledge for any kind of success, you don’t necessarily need school. See, school is very good at teaching a few things, and certainly, you need to go to school to become a doctor or an engineer, but for everything else, there are millions of books, videos and online courses out there. I ended up dropping school after my second year, but I have never stopped learning. I’ve read hundreds of books listened to audio books, watched thousands of hours worth of videos and taken quite a few online courses. Even though I never tried in school, I was good enough to get accepted into UBC for Electrical Engineering and that’s where I started my first business. A painting business. If you’ve ever heard of Student Works Painting they are a painting company that franchises out areas for Students to run their own painting business sure they provided a little bit of support but you’re basically on your own. The marketing and sales, and managing your own painters and clients. Man, that was the most stressful thing I ever did up until that point but even though it was stressful I loved it because I had a chance to make my clients happy and most of them were very wonderful people. I still remember working 16 hour days, especially at the beginning of the season and as I got better and more efficient those hours became shorter. But that’s when the entrepreneurial bug hit me and I’ve done a few business ventures after that and had a chance to make an impact on a few lives. Now I’m a part owner of a talk-show and I run a digital marketing company called Nicholas Man SEO.

TSM16-51&52 How to Handle Grief in the Holidays, with David Kessler

Their Story Matters with Sara Troy and her guest David Kessler, on air from December 20th

One-third of the population will experience Holiday Grief  David Kessler, grief expert, gives 7 solutions for help.

holidaygrief

A loss of a loved one, or way of life, the loneliness and deep sorrow are very prevalent at this time of year, please be mind and heartful and reach out and care.

davidk-600x399David Kessler is the #1 grief expert who has spent decades working with those whose loved ones left them broken hearted or they’ve died. He has put together the strategies below as well as a video’s to help those dealing with a loss.

Holidays are about togetherness. How do we have togetherness when the one we want to be with isn’t with us anymore?

TUNE IN HERE FOR ON-DAMND LISTENING NOW

images-2For many people, holidays are the hardest part of grieving. When you have lost someone special, your world loses its celebratory qualities.

Holidays only magnify the loss.

David has put together 7 strategies to help get you through the holidays.

  1. Be honest about your grief. There’s pressure to have a joyful holiday even when nothing has gone wrong in life. You’re not a Grinch, you’re in grief! Don’t feel the need to fake it or be happier than you actually are. You don’t have to have a holiday joy!!
  1. Include the loss into your holidays. The grief is there anyway. Light a candle in their honour. Dedicate the prayer before dinner to your loved one. Have everyone at the dinner table share a favourite story about your loved one that died.
  1. Take your grief online. Facebook in the new town square. Share photos of past Christmas. Also, there are many closed Facebook groups, just for those grieving. You will quickly see others are also feeling loss during the holidays.
  1. For events, always have an exit strategy. You don’t have to stay. Feel free to say, you just wanted to drop by or you have another event to get to. You can even text yourself if you need to…time to go!
  1. Re-evaluate your rituals.Choose what works and doesn’t. You can even cancel a holiday. You don’t have to do those 200 Christmas cards. You don’t have to cook the dinner. Free yourself.
  1. “No” is a complete sentence. You should not have to do anything you don’t want to do. And you don’t have to explain it. “No, thank you” also works well.
  1. Pay attention to the children. They are often the forgotten grievers. We think since kids seem busy in school they are fine. Or it’s easier to focus on the adults. But children feel the grief and have less life experience and tools to deal with the loss.
