An Authors Kiss with Sara Troy and her guest Venessa Mariah, on air from December 8th
Over the past year, our world has been surrounded by one negative incident after another that has changed all of our lives. I wanted to create this book to reignite imagination and encourage our children to still dream big and keep their eyes on becoming world changers. “If A Kid Were President” is a great bedtime story but also an amazing conversation starter between you, your child or student to see hope, in a hopeless world.
Writer, creative entrepreneur, game changer, & hope seeker. Vanessa Mariah is a children’s author whose books inspire all ages to think beyond the reality set in front of them. Her creative stories spark imagination and help young readers see a hope for their future. You and your children will enjoy reading her novels, now and to come.

Our Gifted Children with Sara Troy and her guestDr. Vermelle D. Greene
Dr. Vermelle D. Greene, author of Please Teach Me Like I’m a Boy! Ten Steps to His Success in School and in Life. Greene is the Executive of the Boys Initiative. Boys are in crisis and continue to fall behind girls in academics and readiness for college or careers. Boys learn differently, and educators must be willing to change instructional methods to meet their learning and developmental needs. Otherwise, many young men will continue to fail in school and, subsequently, in life.
This book sheds light on the issue through the eyes and experiences of Zachary, an eight-year-old boy who is anxiously anticipating going to the next grade. Encouraged by his parents, he writes a letter to his new teacher, asking for her help to make his next school year better than his last. While introducing the concept of brain-based gender differences, this primer offers educators more than 150 researched-based strategies and practical ideas that will help boys (and girls!) achieve more academically, socially, and morally. The objective is to motivate teachers to explore the plethora of available resources and learn how to best educate our boys. In addition to those print -materials, teachers who are followers of Christ are encouraged to use their spiritual resources which will make an eternal difference for all the extraordinary boys like Zachary that God brings to their classes every year.
Vermelle D. Greene has been a schoolteacher and administrator for more than 45 years. She holds degrees from Dickinson College, George Washington University, and International Seminary. After retiring, she founded S.A.C.R.E.D. Life Academy for Boys, a Christian school focused on building character and accommodating the educational needs of boys. Dr. Greene is currently an educational consultant and lives in southern Maryland with her husband, Vernon. They have two married children and six amazingly beautiful grandchildren.

Raising our gifted children with Sara Troy and her guest LaChelle Adkins,on air from November 3rd
LaChelle Adkins, America’s Super Mum of 15 children, know about stress and the balancing of work, kids in covid times.
What is life like for a 49 year old woman who has been married to Jerome Adkins for 27 years, who is a retired Major in the United States Army and Pastor of World Fellowship of Jesus Christ and parents of 15 children? It has been adventurous to say the least. Raised as an only child, the transition to staying home and walking away from a career was a hard one to make. The anxiety of doing everything right, pleasing others and seeking validation led to a life of depression that resulted in 3 hospitalizations. However, that period of 13 years of battling depression led to a personal journey to find self. No longer liking the victim mindset, LaChelle came up with a strategy to overcome depression that she has named Fresh start. She is now an inspirational speaker and coach to empower women to be proactive in their mental wellness.
In addition to life coaching she uses her degree in Marketing from Indiana University to help small businesses increase their market share.
LaChelle enjoys accomplishing impossible feats because she believes that is evidence of God working in her life and creates momentum in her life when she is faced with challenges in life. Her goal is to leave a lasting impression with everyone that she meets and add value to make their lives better.
Their Story Matters with Sara Troy and her guest Jackie Van Campen, on air from October 6th
I grew up in a country where being sexually active at 12/13 y/o was normalized. Teen pregnancy was (and still is) a common occurrence. By the time I was 12, I was already making out with 15/16-y/o boys. By the time I was 13, I was making out with a 23-y/o man. It was normal for young women to date much older guys. Enter the movie “Cutie” on Netflix. After reading so many posts of distraught women bashing Netflix for the hypersexualization of children for the way they were promoting the show, I decided to watch it for myself and gather my own opinions on it. If all you got from it was the hypersexualization of children, you missed very significant pieces and layers, including what leads to these issues. As I watching the show, I was reminded of my own experiences and things I saw growing up
– Poverty
Religious and cultural oppression of women
Peer pressure
Lack of open communication between parents and children
There’s so much I want to say about these points and how some of them directly impacted me as a tween/teen and then as an adult. I’m still gathering my thoughts…One thing I’ll say is that as I look at my own girls (22, 15, and 12), I’m grateful that their experiences so far have been very different than mine at their respective ages. We don’t protect our children by hiding things from them. We protect them by having open dialogue and communication – something I did not have growing up. I hope that instead of freaking out over things, we can actually have open and honest conversations, especially as women, because if we want to change the way children are hypersexualized, we need to start by confronting the issues that lead to it, including the demons in our own closets..

The coronavirus lockdowns around the world have sparked fears that many people may be living in quarantine with violent partners or spouses. A new study reveals a different disturbing pattern growing in isolation: young children abusing their parents.
Researchers from the universities of Oxford and Manchester find this “hidden” problem is intensifying during the pandemic, with the number of violent episodes skyrocketing by 70 percent.
The study of more than 100 families and 47 social workers reveals many moms and dads believe the months-long quarantine is making already volatile homes even more unstable. Parents say being confined at home is creating a “cabin fever effect.” For some, this “pressure cooker” environment leads to violent outbursts.
