Don’t Drink and Fly

9781782790167“Bernice is a witch living in Glasgow. She loses her way in her life and wanders off the beaten track looking for the garden of enlightenment. Bernice is a witch with many skeletons in her closet. She has an addictive personality, works as a holistic therapist, and struggles to maintain any intimate relationships. Her spells are not always as accurate as they could be, often the result of her having a few too many goblets of red wine.
When mysterious letters start appearing at her door, she begins to think about her childhood and, with the help of her long-suffering friend Maggie, tries to come to terms with her past and the family she left behind. But nothing in Bernice’s life is ever simple…

Cathie Devitt Born in Glasgow Scotland April 1958 Cathie was part of a huge Catholic/Irish family. Born into a family of 4 children. (3 girls and 1 boy.) Cathie was not the oldest, nor the youngest nor the favoured son. She was just “The other one” Whilst her siblings sailed through conventional lives, Cathie was always the wild one who had to be warned to behave when visiting friends and relatives. Un-harnessed creativity she says. When Cathie was about 13 years old her mother came home to find a strong smell of emulsion paint greet her at the front door. Cathie’s father gave his wife a cup of tea and said, “She’s creative, just let her express herself.” Cathie had the radio on full blast and was happily painting cream and blue clouds in the bedroom of the family’s council (social housing) flat ( just happened to be the colour of the paint that she had found under the kitchen sink). Inspired by her own artistic talent, Cathie kept going until the paint tin was dry. Result?- clouds on the walls, the ceiling, the door and painted over her grandmother’s solid mahogany  bedroom furniture that was  a family heirloom.

Cathie’s mother says that her daughter’s first words were, “But Why?” and her second “But why not?”

Some things never change.

“I wrote and performed in my first play at primary school aged 11 years. Life took over and writing was consigned to work related bumff the quality of which somehow stopped me from being sacked or evicted.”

“I studied at Glasgow and Strathclyde University whilst working and bringing up my two daughters alone. Oh what fun we had! Tears, tantrums, hormones and hooch. (The girls sometimes kicked off too.) The studies resulted in bits of paper that no-one ever asked to see but somehow greased the rungs of the career ladder high enough to ensure that the three of us never went hungry.”

The flame of desire to write has flickered on and off, but never been snuffed out. Encouraged by publication in various genres, Cathie Devitt moved on to support others by facilitating creative writing workshops. Cathie has also written and performed drama workshops in a corporate environment to showcase company policies and practices, such as Health and Safety and Equality in the workplace. Add to that writing and performing in Festival Theatre and training as a laughter yoga therapist and you can see why Cathie Devitt is in a class of her own.

Cathie has very little time to dedicate to her own pleasures. Work and family commitments make sure of that. However, to release her Diva within Cathie has-

Trained as a laughter yoga leader

Performed as an actress and stand up comedian

Zip slid in the forest and tackled rope bridges and swings

Originally Aired September 9TH 2014 on Positive Living Vibrations with Sara Troy and her guest Joanne Ameya Cohen

I believe that it is time to Remember the Ways of the Feminine™.
I believe that your hormones are the path to your desires.
I believe that healing your past wounds and hurts allows freedom Now.
I believe that discovering your truth is the salve to your pain and discomfort.

I am committed to inviting out your Truth, Wisdom, and Power.

Snazzy, from my Heart Bio:

imagesffefI am a Women’s Wisdom Guide, a truth-seeker, a student of the plants and trees, believer in the power of sisterhood, freedom junkie, and alchemist.

I work with women who know they need to heal their hearts as the path to standing in Feminine Leadership.

I work with women who have been “putting off” their feminine health symptoms and are now struggling with fertility challenges, painful cycles, pregnancy issues, postpartum imbalances, PMS, fibroids, endometriosis.

I work with women who crave sisterhood and recognize their beauty more deeply in sacred space with women.

I work with women who are bogged down by overwhelm, anxiety, stress, and fears that are keeping them stuck and miles from their desires.

I work with women who are ready to embrace their vulnerability, receptivity, and intuition.

I work with women who have spent the majority of their lives playing small and shrinking in mediocrity to fit in… all the while experiencing insecurities and isolation. Women who have belittled themselves with their negative self-talk and self-judgements.

And I am their Mentor.  Their guide back home.  I am their collaborator.  The woman who can unearth the possibilities alive in their hearts and souls.  The woman who creates space for Initiation into a world of feminine power and freedom, rather than pain and shame.

But it wasn’t always that way, listen in to know my journey……

P14/35b In how “Our Spirits Dance”

Positive Living Vibrations with Sara Troy and her guest Susan Allison. Aired September 2nd/14

                                     “Our Spirits Dance”

By Susan Allison and Thomas Hickenbottom

For Soul-Mated Poets, Love Continues …Even After Death

Their Paired Poetry Offers Hope for Those Still Longing For Deep, Enduring Love

Susan Allison –you may know her as the highly successful author of Conscious Divorce and Empowered Healer– never believed in love at first sight-until it happened to her.susantomThen on a full-moon night in June 1994, she met Thomas Hickenbottom–already the author of five books of poetry, and eventually, the award winning novel Local Tribes and a history of surfing in Santa Cruz–at a writer’s group, and had tea with him afterwards. Then the magic began. Star-struck, they each went home, stayed up all night and wrote full-moon poems to share at the next group. Their poems had the same title and similar message! They continued to write love poems through three separations caused by fear over the intensity of their feelings, and wrote poetry to celebrate their wedding at the summer solstice in Santa Cruz, California. They celebrated their love with three re-commitment ceremonies and kept writing poems to each other during their blissful 17-year marriage as true Soul Mates. Susan even wrote poignant poetry about her husband’s cancer and eventual death in August of 2013. In the darkest times, their love continued to light the way. Before Thomas’ transition, he and Susan agreed they would tell their story through their love poems as an inspiration for others longing for the same kind of deep, enduring love. They wanted their poetry and their love to show that finding one’s Soul Mate IS possible. They wanted to model for readers how to live and love in a soul-mated union by creating a dialogue, with a poem of Thomas’ and one of Susan’s facing each other like love letters being exchanged. Read in order, their poetry tells the story of their love over nineteen years. The newly published book, Our Spirits Dance by Susan Allison and Thomas Hickenbottom, illustrates the importance of having faith, and being tenacious and committed–inspiring readers to have the courage to keep their hearts open and love more deeply no matter what. Our Spirits Dance encourages readers to work on themselves first and become the highest and best they can be, and then attract another whole person who is living his or her purpose; so as two lights they attract one another in an evolved, higher frequency of consciousness.spitisIn Our Spirits Dance, readers can experience what soul mates love feels like, and what the signs are that say it is a soul connected or twin flame union: often love at first sight, a recognition or familiarity right away, clairvoyance with one another, intense spiritual and sexual energy, feeling this powerful energy and emerging even when apart, challenges that test the union, but actually strengthen it rather than sever it, and the continued merging of souls even after death.Says Susan: “Our poems express the otherworldly quality of our union, and also the physical connection that immediately felt familiar. Before meeting Thomas, I was a very intellectual and linear person who saw life in black and white. I lived a practical and efficient life that made sense but was devoid of deep passion and joy. I don’t think I even knew that any other life existed, that any other relationship existed except a very rational partnership. I was in for an awakening that shook my logical foundation to its core, and changed and enriched my life forever.”And the connection between Susan and Thomas is still strong, as she shares in the book’s preface: “And my soul mate waits for me. Now that Thomas is a spirit without a body, we are still in contact, and this doesn’t surprise me. For months after his death I felt ecstatic energy pulsing in my body, and believe he joined his spirit with mine. Even now when I read his poetry, listen to certain songs, talk about him or look at photos, I feel the intense energy pulsing from my lower chakras, then rising up and out the top of my head.” Her final poem, “Immortal” describes how she can visit Thomas in a level of heaven and continue their beautiful union, even after his physical death.Delightful, beautiful, soaring, powerful, and poignant–Our Spirits Dance is all of these. On the one-year anniversary of Thomas’ transition, Susan celebrates all Soul Mate unions by allowing readers to feel what this kind of love is like and that it is possible for all of us. She and Thomas prove it’s not just a fairytale.

I was struck by the undying energy of true love, it gives me hope and shows me that when we come together in partnership we must celebrate each others love in any way we can each day so it always has an abundant flame.

P14/33b “LESSONS Crime, Games & Pain”

Positive Living Vibrations with Sara Troy and her guest Scott Magri. Aired August 19th/14 on

10303455_716658348372226_4854536327116422560_nEvery so often a book of powerful honesty comes along to jog us out of our comfortable existence. Lessons is such a book. Author Scott Magri has lived the painful life of drugs, crime and physical brutality, and Lessons tells that story in his own words. He pulls no punches in the telling of this story, particularly when it comes to his own failings, but he firmly believes that the lessons he has learned so far in this lifetime were meant to be learned so that he might fulfil a higher purpose. Lessons chronicles Scott Magri’s forty-four years on this planet, the lessons he’s learned along the way, and his real purpose for being. His greatest hope is that his story will spark in others a desire to examine their own life in order to discover their own true purpose.

Scott Magri was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, now lives in Pitt Meadows, B.C. His story tells of a life of drugs, crime and physical brutality that began as a bullied youngster. He tells his story in his own words, so don’t expect great prose. He tells of the lessons that he has learned and the impact they have had on him. Now, at 44, and out of that life, he is looking forward to a purposeful future and hopes others will read what can happen in this crazy world that is called ‘life’. A must read: “LESSONS Crime, Games & Pain”

Scott says “When I made the decision to write this book, I was going to dig down deep and tell every single thing in hopes that it would help other people,” says Magri.

download (1)“If I told only half of it, it wouldn’t do what it’s supposed to do.”

Magri decided to start writing after his third suicide attempt.

“I felt my body was somewhere else. There was a message there,” he says.

Magri bought a computer and began typing the next day.

As soon as he started writing, he got chills and goosebumps. It was the start of his catharsis.

Magri soon used began using words as a way to deal with his demons brought on by years of drug abuse, criminal activity, broken relationships and aggression.

Scott now works with the police in helping kids prevent living a life or crime drugs and fear, he is an exemplary example of how life can be turned around when we decide to embrace our true value and not feed the fear hate or greed. He is open honest and in action to live a life of truth and purpose and helps others to leave crime behind. He is in resurrecting an old sanctuary called the Katzie Slough so that others may find peace and harmony in a sacred spot.

Your daughter is dying her black hair fuschia. This book gives parents an overview of the process while offering specific suggestions and guidelines to reduce conflict between parents and their kids, improve communication within any family, and replace the stress of parenting with true common sense.

None of us are perfect, but every day we have opportunities to show our kids the high road not only in our expectations of them, but in our expectations of ourselves.”
