QS22-36. An End to Suffering with Dr Nancy Wiley

Quantum Spirituality with Sara Troy and her guest Dr Nancy Wiley, on air from August 30th

Suffering is seemingly universal. Every day, as we are bombarded with reasons to be fearful- an ongoing global pandemic, environmental challenges, wars, civil unrest, mass shootings, poverty, homelessness, rising gas prices, etc.- we have an important choice to make.  Will we let the fear consume us, or can we find peace by surrendering to Divine Trust? Scientist, Spiritual Researcher, and Author Dr. Nancy Wiley, D.D.S., provides a simple guide for dissolving stress and despair in Divine Trust: A Practical Guide to End Your Suffering and Find Your Way Home.

Dr. Nancy Wiley, D.D.S. is a highly trained scientist who is an expert in the physical body as she is in the subtle body and spiritual realms.

After having received her B.A. in Biology from the University of Maryland, Dr. Wiley went on to receive her M.S. in Nutrition and her D.D.S. and a Certificate of Orthodontics from Columbia University. She also received her Diplomat to the American Board of Orthodontics and Qualified Orofacial Myology Certification. She has done research at the Biology Department of UMBC and Columbia University as well as Johns Hopkins Medical School and is the publisher of multiple scientific research papers. She has practiced clinical orthodontics for more than 27 years.

Concurrently, Dr. Wiley has immersed herself in the study of meditation and the subtle energy body for her entire adult life. Since the age of 16, she has practiced various forms of meditation, including Transcendental Meditation, Holosync (brain wave entrainment), and guided meditations with many teachers, including Jeddah Mali, her most treasured teacher and to whom she attributes the attainment of Unity Consciousness. She is also a Reiki Master and expert in several energy healing modalities, including EFT, Spring forest Qigong, and Diamond Feng Shui.

As her experience and confidence in navigating through her inner realm continued, Dr. Wiley was able to reach a state whereby she no longer suffered, no matter what life presented. She became certain that there was a Divine Presence that wanted everyone to know and trust It, and her Divine Trust became unshakeable.

On February 14, 2018, the urgency to share this message accelerated in the aftermath of the Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in Parkland, Florida where Dr. Wiley lives and works. One of her patients and others close to her were killed in the shooting, and her community was suffering terribly. Dr. Wiley knew that Divine Trust could help ease their pain and suffering and committed herself to that cause. She now dedicates herself to igniting a massive shift in human consciousness, using Divine Trust as the cornerstone.   In her first book, Divine Trust: A Practical Guide to End Your Suffering and Find Your Way Home, she lays out a blueprint that anyone can easily follow to achieve the incredible state of Divine Trust and, thereby, be free of suffering.

All that Blues and Jazz.

I have always had a warm spot for Jazz and the Blues, something about the way it moves you, stretching your very soul and feeding the heart. I have put together here, some of my Jazz and Blues podcast guests whose music has soothed and embraced me. All of their music at some point has moved me in some way and when you take a listen to their music, you are listening to their heart and soul.

Enjoy their stories and music, I really feel it will move you too.

LM22-22.The Drummer Loves Ballads, John Armato.

The Drummer Loves Ballads is the debut album of John Armato. Featuring extraordinary music, musicians and moods, it was produced and engineered by some of the industry’s top talent. The album was designed to be a new soundtrack for lazy Sunday afternoons, romantic evenings, and melancholy midnights, but you’ll swear it’s a long-lost jazz favorite.

LM-19-45 Darius Brubeck’s Jazz Music.

After graduation in 1969 and some experiments with different kinds of music, Darius was ushered into the international jazz scene in the Seventies as a member of Two Generations of Brubeck and The New Brubeck Quartet (Dave, Darius, Chris and Dan Brubeck) under his father’s leadership but also continued playing intermittently with his own groups. He is married to my cousin Catharine, who as managed for decades now.

LM22-31 Marilyn Scott, Jazz is her Game

Marilyn Scott is best known for her Grammy-nominated work as a contemporary jazz musician, having performed with some of the best musicians in the world over the last few decades. As the years have progressed, she has dived deeper into jazz writing and interpretations. Collaborations with many acclaimed artists and musicians have opened and widened her range in a music that’s rich in texture and complexity.

LM 17-06 ‘Saxing’ into our Souls with Gerald Albright

Gerald Albright has a generous invitation for fans of his hit 2014 album: If you thought that mix of deep funk and simmering sensuality was a Slam Dunk, wait’ll you get a load of G. It’s that album’s high octane sequel, which draws even deeper connections to that in-your-face horn-section-magic, of classic bands like Earth, Wind & Fire and Tower of Power.

LM 17-19 Jan Daley with “The Way of a Woman”

Adored for her singular magic for making what’s classic contemporary again, Jan Daley is the most multi-talented and beautiful Best Kept Secret in entertainment today. The triple-threat singer/songwriter, actress and playwright connects to audiences worldwide with her authentic, personal presentations touched with just the right amount of razzle dazzle to remind you why she’s on center stage.

LM 17-002 Groovy People & the Power of Love

The power of Love with Lynne Fiddmont is an exquisitely balanced collection of hand-picked classic R&B covers that reveal some of Lynne’s influences and mentors, along with her freshly penned original soul songs that amplify and reflect precisely how those inspirations have helped to shape who she is today – as an artist and as a woman.

LM 17-09 Americana Roots Blues Guitar with Justin Johnson

Justin Johnson is the founder of “Roots Music School” in Nashville, TN.  Under this umbrella, he has released an Instructional Series currently consisting of 5 DVDs and a Book on Roots Music technique and theory.  As Roots Music School founder, Justin Johnson has partnered with educators across the country to develop Roots Music curriculum for schools.

LM 17-16 Geoff Alpert – Open Your Heart

Trombonist Geoff Alpert has loved music all his life, studying the craft, learning several brass/valve instruments, playing in bands and composing songs. Inspired by the likes of jazz legend J.J. Johnson, rock band Chicago’s James Pankow, and fusion greats such as Wayne Henderson and Raul de Souza, Geoff studied music as a major at San Diego State University while supplementing his income gigging near and far. Yet, he walked away from music for 30 years in the early `80s to be an ideal provider as a husband and father.

LM24-30. Jesse “JTJazz” Thompson, Jazzing It.

Jesse”JTJazz” Thompson, multi-talented composer, pianist and keyboardist, born in “The Land Of Funk” (Dayton, Ohio) attributes his humble beginnings in music to being captivated by a family of musicians: a father who was a professional drummer, Thompson’s mother—a church organist/pianist and his brother Marvyn Wheatley (who recorded and played with Parliament and Slave).  Industry influences were soul/funk legends The Ohio Players, Lakeside and Zapp featuring Roger Troutman.

LM24-30. DeeAnn’s “Its My Time”

When DeeAnn came back to the project, she added a few new, very personal songs, starting with a heartrending, gospel-influenced version of “You Are My Sunshine”, a song she sang to William to put him to sleep when he was a child.  Odel’s sensitive yet rousing and inspirational production features members of the Buffalo Philharmonic String Quartet (Roman Mekhulnov).

LM25-18. ELLIS HALL is “The Ambassador of Soul,”

Since then, I’ve written over 4,000 soul, gospel, blues, and pop songs. I’ve worked with Patti LaBelle, James Taylor, Toby Keith, Stevie Wonder, Herbie Hancock, George Benson, Maurice White, George Duke, John Klemmer—you name it. I’ve sung on dozens of film soundtracks, including The Lion King 2Shrek 2InvincibleBruce Almighty, and even sang Louis Armstrong’s voice in Spielberg’s Catch Me If You Can.

MH22-31. David Richman, Expressive Writing Workshops

Mental Health Awareness with Sara Troy and her guest David Richman, on air from August 2nd.

Expressive writing, from journaling to structured creative writing, can be extremely therapeutic. Health outcomes include fewer doctor visits, improved organ function, and reduced depression. In an expressive writer’s daily life there are fewer sick days, focus on tasks is enhanced, and interpersonal interaction improves. Once learned, expressive writing opens the door to explore the emotional aspects of one’s traumas, leading to increased emotional health.
My expressive writing workshops are led in a guided, personal manner, providing participants a safe and
immersive space where they can explore their musings, reflections, and emotions. The process creates a foundation for participants to continue their expressive writing journeys long after the workshops have ended.

BENEFITS TO PARTICIPANTS AND ORGANIZATIONS
Expressive writing workshops deepen the relationship between participants and sponsoring organizations. As a result of the improved mental, physical, and emotional health, gratified participants and their supporters will help organizations grow their donor and referral base.
THEMES
With a goal of showing the traumatized how to examine the suppressed emotional aspects of their experience, this program’s design empowers a transformative and long-term healing process. Traumatized populations include cancer patients, survivors, loved-ones, and caregivers, as well as those in communities that have experienced physical or emotional abuse, including combat-related trauma, sexual assault, childhood trauma, depression, anxiety, and their loved ones and caregivers, and, importantly, the
practitioners who serve those communities.

David has been leading very moving and transformative Expressive Writing Workshops geared towards people affected by all manner of trauma. He combines traditional expressive writing techniques with elements of both narrative and creative writing so that the participants will be well-equipped to continue their expressive writing practices well beyond the workshops. Mental health is such an important topic and David brings his passion, skills, and unique approach to help people connect with their emotions in a whole new way and begin a healing journey.

David was born in Miami and raised mostly in the Los Angeles area. He and his wife split their time between homes in Southern California and Southern Nevada. He has worked in real estate, lending, construction, started both an animation company and a skincare company, and then went into financial services. He has college-aged twins who are as aspirational as their father. After losing his sister to brain cancer, David has organized a yearly fundraiser in her memory, the most recent being the impetus for his upcoming book, Cycle of Lives – 15 People’s Stories, 5,000 Miles, and a Journey Through the Emotional Chaos of Cancer.
