23-45. Are we too old to find Love?

Sara’s View of Life with Sara Troy, on air from November 7th

As the years gracefully add chapters to our stories, I often find myself contemplating the tapestry of human connection that weaves through the lives of my single women friends of mature years. The question seems to float in the air around us, as delicate and as profound as the twilight of our youth: Can love be found once again at this stage in our lives?

Have we had our day? I muse, watching the laughter light up their eyes, the same eyes that have seen decades of joys and heartbreaks. The notion that love is the exclusive domain of the young is as outdated as the idea that wisdom comes only with age. Love, I argue, is ageless, boundless, and ever-present, waiting just beyond the reach of time’s grasp.

Are we too old? I ask, knowing that age has only refined us, like wine gaining complexity and depth with the passage of time. Our experiences have sculpted us into beings of resilience and beauty, with so much more to give and share. The richness of our lives cannot be dimmed by the number of candles on our birthday cake.

Is there anyone out there with integrity and honour? The question echoes in the quiet moments. It is a hope that remains undiminished by the years, a belief in the existence of kindred spirits who value the golden currency of trust and the quiet strength of character. Surely, there are hearts that beat to the rhythm of respect and love, with hands that hold as much tenderness as they do strength.

To love and to be loved in return, it’s a desire that transcends the very essence of time, one that doesn’t fade as we step into the silver season of our lives. It’s there, in the shared glances across a room, in the understanding smiles, and in the patient listening of a friend. Love, in its many forms, remains within reach, ready to unfold in the most unexpected places.

This is a timeless reminder of our own capacity for growth and the ever-present possibility of connection. It’s an affirmation, a gentle but firm declaration to ourselves and to each other: don’t give up, don’t succumb to feelings of unworthiness. Love is an omnipresent force, and while it might seem elusive, it exists in abundance, often waiting for us to recognize it within ourselves before it manifests in our relationships.

To know self-love is to unlock the door to receiving affection from others. It is about embracing our entirety—our strengths and our vulnerabilities—and acknowledging that we are deserving of love, just as we are. In understanding and loving ourselves, we set the standard for how we should be loved by others. It is in this space of self-recognition and self-appreciation that we allow others to see us, to know us, and to love us.

And in this knowledge, we vibrate with a frequency that resonates with authenticity. We attract not just love, but the right kind of love—the kind that honors us, nourishes us, and reflects the very essence of who we are.

Letting love come to us in whatever form it’s meant to can be both a test of patience and an exercise in trust. It means trusting the journey, trusting the unseen rhythms of life that guide us toward experiences and people who are aligned with our highest good. Sometimes love arrives not with a grand entrance but in subtle, unexpected forms—through friendships, shared smiles, common kindnesses, and quiet companionships.

It’s important to stay open, to allow life to surprise us, and to recognize that love doesn’t always come in the package we expect. It could be the comfort of a long-time friend, the understanding from a new acquaintance, or even a rekindled romance that arrives at our doorstep in the quiet autumn of our lives.

So, to my dear friends and to myself, I say: remain open-hearted, cherish the love that you already possess, and trust that new love can find you at any time. For in this vast universe, the one thing that remains eternal, that transcends the boundaries of age and time, is the ability to love and be loved in return.

23-43 Observations while away

Sara’s View of Life with Sara Troy, on air from October 24th

I’ve just returned from the UK and oh, what a trip it was! There’s truly nothing like spending quality time with family. My sister and brother were incredible hosts. Every meal with my sister felt like I was dining at a posh 5-star restaurant; she has this knack for making everything so fancy. My brother, on the other hand, had a more homely touch to his dishes, but equally delightful.

You won’t believe the amount of walking I did. Probably a good thing, considering all the scrumptious meals I was indulging in. London was on my list, but I only made it there once – thanks to a train strike. But hey, that’s the UK for you, always full of surprises!

Aside from the culinary adventures, I caught up with a few cousins, took in a movie, watched a play, did some shopping (okay, maybe more than just some), and took out some well-deserved relaxation time.

All in all, it was a fantastic getaway, filled with family, fun, and food. My trip had a significant work element to it as well. My brother, the ever-diligent professor, graciously took out time from his schedule to edit my personal book. Not only that, he also went through the chapters for “Our Forgotten Children” book, which was immensely helpful.

With his invaluable input, I’m thrilled to share that my personal book is now set to release in just a few weeks! However, the journey for “Our Forgotten Children” has had its own set of challenges. Unfortunately, due to funding constraints, I’ve had to make the pragmatic decision to first release it as an eBook. Sometimes life throws curveballs and we need to adjust our strategy. So, an eBook it is, for starters. But, this is just the beginning. I’m gearing up for a campaign to launch the soft cover version as well as an audio edition.

It’s a testament to the fact that even when plans go awry, we find new ways, innovative routes to make our dreams come true. The story must be told, and it will be, one way or another!

While I was in the UK, amidst the joy and the familial bonding, the world outside was reeling. The violence between Israel and Gaza erupted, casting a shadow on the global landscape. The news was heart-wrenching, with images of destruction and the heartbreak of lost lives. Such senseless violence, with both sides trading blows, and the ones truly suffering were the innocent souls caught in the crossfire.

It’s a grim reminder that in these battles, there are no real victors. The aftermath is just more animosity, more pain, and an even deeper divide. It made me ponder, where has our compassion gone? Where is the love that binds humanity together? When did we forget the essence of understanding and healing, choosing instead to perpetuate hate?

These moments challenge our collective spirit. But they also serve as a stark reminder that it’s upon each one of us to rise above this hatred. We need to be the change, be the love, and embody the compassion this world so desperately needs. Because if not us, then who? If not now, then when? We must yearn for a world where love overpowers hate, where understanding douses the flames of animosity.

It’s a profound realization that every one of us has a choice, every single day, in what we nurture within ourselves and how we project it onto the world. We can either feed the flames of division, hatred, and misunderstanding, or we can nourish the values of compassion, kindness, and love. It’s not about picking a side, but rather choosing a perspective – a perspective that upholds the sanctity of life above all else.

Life is invaluable, and every life is a universe in its own right. We must strive to appreciate its worth, to cherish it, and to protect it. To rise above our prejudices, our misunderstandings, our differences, and to connect with the very essence of being human. To exercise common-sense in our judgments, to practice kindness even when it’s hard, and to love unconditionally, breaking the chains of hatred.

Our world needs healing, and it begins with each one of us making that conscious choice – to value life more, to be the beacon of hope, compassion, and unity. And in that choice, we find our true power, our purpose, and our path forward.

23-42. Is it Asking too MUCH?

Sara’s View of Life with Sara Troy, on air from October 16th

I’ve always strived to bring awareness and wisdom to my audience in any way I can. Recently, I took some time away in the UK to be with my older siblings who have been facing significant health challenges. It had been four long years since our last meeting, and it was a much-needed reunion.

However, this hiatus had its consequences. I’ve fallen behind in the fundraising efforts for “Our Forgotten Children’s” book project, and it’s currently far from reaching the required amount for publication. We have a wonderful team of 12 authors plus me, who’ve generously shared their expertise and wisdom on improving the lives of our children. They’ve dedicated their time to sharing this invaluable knowledge.

I am committed to ensuring that these authors don’t bear the financial burden of this project, as it’s also intended to be a fundraiser for their chosen organizations supporting children’s causes. Each author will allocate their portion of the proceeds to their respective organizations, furthering the vital work they do for our children. Your support is greatly appreciated in making this vision a reality.

Are we asking too much of you the listener, the reader, the supporter? While the world is indeed facing its share of brutal conflicts and widespread poverty, endeavors like “Our Forgotten Children” are crucial because they contribute to showing a brighter future is possible. Stories and awareness like these serve as a beacon of hope and catalysts for changes so desperately needed in our children’s lives.

By addressing the way we raise our children, focusing on education, societal values, mental health support, self-value, and self-esteem, we can empower the next generation to find their purpose and place in the world. This, in turn, can reduce the cycle of discontent and anger that often leads to senseless violence and conflicts. It’s about building a world where such wars become increasingly rare, and where compassion, understanding, and peace prevail. Every effort counts in shaping this better future.

I wholeheartedly support the idea of turning “Our Forgotten Children” into a series that brings more authors and perspectives on this crucial subject. It’s a vital step toward deepening our understanding of the issues at hand and finding effective solutions. Our author’s initiative to shed light on what’s going wrong and how we can make positive changes is commendable.

However, your support is essential to making this endeavor a reality. Without the backing of individuals like you who believe in the importance of this cause, we cannot bring this book and its valuable insights to the forefront. Together, we can make a difference and contribute to a more compassionate and informed world.

23-39. Sara’s Back in the UK

Traveling back home to see your sister and brother can be a powerful journey through time and memory, filled with a mix of nostalgia and complexity. It’s remarkable how our earliest roots and experiences continue to hold a special place in our hearts, no matter how far and wide we may have traveled.

  1. Childhood Memories: Returning to your childhood home can flood your mind with vivid memories of the past. The sights, sounds, and smells of the place where you grew up can transport you back to a simpler time. You may find yourself reminiscing about the adventures, joys, and even the challenges of your youth.
  2. Familiarity and Foreignness: The paradox of feeling both familiar and foreign is common when revisiting your roots. While the place and people may be familiar, you’ve undoubtedly changed over the years. The environment might feel different, and you may need time to readjust to the place that was once so integral to your life.
  3. Longing for Home: There’s a saying that “home is where the heart is,” and it’s evident in your experience. Even though you left the UK in 1969, those initial roots continue to call to you. Home, in many ways, remains a part of your identity, no matter where you’ve lived or how long you’ve been away.
  4. Flashbacks of a Life Lived: Each corner of your hometown likely holds memories of experiences, people, and events that have shaped you. Visiting these places can trigger vivid flashbacks, allowing you to relive moments from your past and reflect on the person you’ve become as a result of those experiences.
  5. Childhood’s End: Returning to your childhood home can also serve as a reminder of the passage of time. Childhood, once so vivid and immediate, now exists in the realm of memory. It’s a bittersweet realization that highlights the inevitability of change and growth.
  6. Connection to Roots: Your journey back to the UK underscores the enduring connection you have to your roots. It’s a testament to the enduring power of place and family in shaping who we are. These connections can ground us, providing a sense of continuity and belonging in an ever-changing world.

In revisiting your past, you have the opportunity to reconnect with the essence of who you are and to appreciate the journey you’ve taken. While the feelings of familiarity and foreignness may coexist, the beauty of such journeys lies in the depth of reflection and the rekindling of bonds with loved ones who share your history. It’s a reminder that our roots, no matter how distant in time or place, remain an integral part of our identity and continue to shape our present and future.

23-38. Raising For Our Forgotten Children

Sara Troy on Saras View of Life, on air from September 19th

Raising Children at any time can be hard, but when we have a society that is leaving them behind and not addressing their unique needs, it makes it so much harder. I have put a collaborative book together to bring awareness of some of the issues around the raising of our children in todays world, and what changes are need to support our children and their own struggles and gifts.

Raising children is no easy feat, and it seems like the challenges are only growing in today’s world. Our society often neglects the unique needs of our kids, making the job of parenting even more demanding.

That’s why I’ve taken the initiative to compile a collaborative book that sheds light on the pressing issues surrounding the upbringing of our children in the contemporary world. It’s essential to recognize both the struggles they face and the incredible gifts they bring into our lives.

Through this book, I hope to raise awareness and advocate for the changes that are desperately needed to support our children. It’s time we come together as a community, as parents, and as a society to ensure our children have the nurturing environment they deserve to thrive and grow. Together, we can make a positive difference in their lives and the future of our world.

In our collaborative book project, we’ve brought together a diverse group of passionate authors who are dedicated to addressing the pressing issues surrounding raising children in today’s world. Each author brings their unique perspective and insights to the table, making this book a comprehensive resource for parents, caregivers, and anyone interested in the well-being of our children.

Here’s where you will find our esteemed authors and their contributions: click on picture.

We are currently in the process of raising funds to publish this important book. Your support will enable us to bring this project to life and make a positive impact on the lives of children and families. Your contributions will go towards editing, design, printing, distribution, and marketing of the book in all formats, book, e-book, audio. We believe that by coming together as a community, we can make a significant difference in addressing the challenges our children face and advocating for the changes they need.
