Raising Our Gifted Children with Sara Troy and her guests Kid Zoom THE Vegan Kid and Mum Gillian Walters.

Most children are taught to take the best care of their companion animals. They love them and feed them, pamper them and make sure they are not harmed, but at the same time, we live in a society that teaches us that it is okay to eat pigs for breakfast, chickens for lunch, and cows for dinner. It is estimated that 60 billion land animals and 90 billion marine animals are killed for food each year. These numbers do not include the millions of animals killed in other areas of exploitation. Find out how King Zoom makes sense of this and what you can do to help save animals.

Saving the Planet with Compassion

I was born Vegan. I learned that we drank almond milk because cow’s milk was for baby cows. Eating plant-based foods was just normal for me (and delicious!). Growing up I learned that we didn’t visit zoos and marine parks because the animals inside these places were not happy. As I got older I learned more about animals used for food, entertainment, clothing and in laboratories. I felt confused as to why this was happening to animals. I just knew that I had to do something to make a change, so I got active! My activism started when I was about 7 years old. I felt so sad about the earthquake in Haiti that I wanted to do something. So I asked friends to donate money to Doctors without Borders instead of birthday gifts for me. For several years I made freshly squeezed lemonade and sold it to raise money for local animal rescue groups. ?Since then I have attended marches, peaceful protests, gathered signatures for ? Bill S-203, spoken with local government, leafleted, created posters and chalked! ? I have had an active part in making history; including the Ban on Cetaceans in Captivity at the Vancouver Aquarium and the biggest Animal Rights March in San Fransisco! ?But my favourite activism is speaking about Veganism and visiting sanctuaries. |

topics like Mother Earth in unique ways, a child’s growing body and all its remarkable abilities, and the importance of sleep. The book lovingly articulates the power of subjects like kindness and gratitude, and also of bad days as well. She helps the reader transform tough moments by infusing them with a new light, paving the way for an unexpected, yet welcome lesson. Giggles and Joy demonstrate the power each child carries within. Through the words found in this delightful book, images are created of a world beyond what is in front of the reader. She has created a world that gives voice to a child’s spiritual nature.
terrestrial and spiritual. Touching upon subjects like God (while honouring the abundance of diverse spiritual beliefs), in telling the truth and the importance of breathing, this sweet book empowers children to believe in their strength of character. Readers are encouraged to take charge of their lives by listening to their heart and thinking for themselves. Being You nurtures the children who read it, wrapping them in a cloak of love and light, teaching them that they have the tools on the inside to heal, to overcome, to be who they are.

His Holiness the Dalai Lamai has said – “Feroze Dada, gives a moving account of a monk’s work and talks about his own efforts to support a school and a care centre for destitute Burmese children started by the monk in his monastery. I offer my prayers for their success.” Children of the Revolution is not simply a book about Myanmar’s journey towards a new freedom, with all of the complexity that freedom brings. It is also a story of the author’s own journey: as a Muslim absorbing Buddhist philosophy and in so doing building a bridge towards peace which offers a transformative vision about how to live a meaningful life that will bring education and hope to thousands of Burmese children. Children of the Revolution is Feroze Dada’s first book. All proceeds of the book go to the monastery school and orphanage at Inle, Phaya Taung. Feroze Dada set up the Inle Trust Charity
We were travelling on a small boat on Inle Lake when a freak storm hit the lake. We were put ashore in the village of Phaya Taung and were given shelter by the monks. What happened next changed our lives……….and we are now looking to change the lives of 1000 abandoned and orphaned children at the monastery.
