My City Vancouver BC Canada

14-Vancouver-164848494-1680x1050

I am coming up to 40 years here in Vancouver, I originally came here from England via South Africa and the US arriving here July 1980. I was only meant to be here a year than of the United States, but I met me now ex-husband 5 months in, now with 3 grown children, 2 senior pets, one divorce, and many adventures I am still here.

When I first arrived I was not sure, I thought it was more advanced than it was, and in many ways, it was a sleepy town. Beautiful stunning yes, but still a bit behind the times. Every roaming clouds. In those days it was easy to walk the whole town, nothing was very busy, but as I did, I discovered wonderful places to eat at, to walk by, and to embrace. It woke up in a big way with our EXPO 86, a most wonderful Fair that invited the world to come and play.

BC PLACE AND SCIENCE WORLD

You cannot deny the beauty of the mountains shining down on you, reflecting in the waters around you. You can not deny the vibration of the trees and ever roaming clouds and sun dancing together. Life here in Vancouver is in its nature, it does not matter how tall a building they build or how many, your eye is drawn to those mountains, the forests, the sea and lakes that are always around you no matter where you are, for you can feel the life all around you, moving within you, uplifting you, speaking to you and inviting you in.

Choose Positive Living with Sara Troy and her guest  Esther Nagle, aired April 5th-11th

We all get stressed and anxious in life.

hand-968729_640-e1448785099242

How many times do you think ‘I’m so stressed right now’, but not know what to do to feel better?

Life can be so stressful sometimes.  We all get stressed.  Some degree of stress is good for us, as it helps us to get creative, focused, and inspired, but when that stress is constant and unproductive, it can be very harmful.

Often we don’t even realize how stressed we are.  We react to situations instead of responding thoughtfully and productively, sleep can be difficult to achieve, we become irritable and overly emotional, we take it out on those closest to us and we feel awful about ourselves.

I used to be the most incredibly stressed out person. I was erratic, moody, and probably really hard to be around.  I relied heavily on cigarettes and wine to help me deal with the stress I felt, not realizing that they were actually adding to my stress so much more.

I learned a really easy technique to help me take control of the stress I felt.  I now don’t drink or smoke, and rarely get stressed about anything.

I want to share this technique with you!    I’ve been there.

There aren’t enough hours in the day for you. You’re busy all the time taking care of your family, your business, your friends, your clients, and colleagues. You barely have time to breathe.  Yet it feels that you’re not really taking care of anything well enough, particularly yourself.  You’re running on empty.

You often get through the days counting down the hours until ‘wine o’clock’, and spend evenings in front of the TV, with a glass or two (?) of wine, wondering why you don’t feel relaxed.  You rarely get enough sleep, waking up feeling exhausted and desperately needing that coffee fix to get you going in the morning.

You find yourself getting stressed out, and reacting badly to situations when you know that you could have dealt with them better.  You love spending time with the family, but always feel that there is something else you should be doing (you feel this way whatever you are doing!)  You love your work, but it either drains you or utterly consumes you.

You try to eat well, and to take care of your family’s health the best you can, but sometimes that takeaway pizza and fizzy drinks just seem so much easier.  You want to be healthier, to live a more peaceful life, but despite all your best efforts, it just seems to be out of reach.

If only there was a way you could reduce your stress, sleep better finds healthier ways to relax than wine and cigarettes and feel more at peace with yourself.

I am happy to tell you that there is and that I can help you.

Would you like to increase flexibility in your body reduce tension in your body relax body and mind better begin to experience the many healing benefits of correct breathing such as reduced blood pressure, better respiration and improved mood feel less stressed, and be able to better deal with stressful situations sleep better, and wake with more energy reduce dependence on alcohol, cigarettes etc to help you to relax –

How do I know that I can help?  I have lived that life, and come out on the other side, a happier, healthier, wiser person.

PVR16/12 The Art of Recycling & Feeding the Masses

Positive Vibrations Roundtable with Sara Troy and her guests John Hood and Aeron Jensan aired from March 22nd on.

John Hood sent this ART to the  Vatican and was accepted by His Holiness Pope Francis, confirmed by Chief of Staff Monsignor .

Every year John Hood blesses various Faith Families around the world with a gift of his depiction of Christ. In turn many faith leaders and art critics have responded with expressions of gratitude.  They have also declared his art worthy of bringing to the attention of Pope Francis and the Vatican. Thus John is beginning an artistic pilgrimage nurturing the hope that a divine intervention will one day see his depiction of Christ gracing the revered corridors of the Vatican.

12038031_10153551881116668_5677469429561352527_nJohn likes the picture so much and His Holiness likes it as well he thought he would like to take it a little further and help humanity around the world.

During my networking I made friends with the Canadian Commander of the White Knights of Malta and this year they presented me with their Light Award. This is for ordinary people who have stepped up in a big way to help humanity.

The Commander introduced me to the Duchess de Rochefort, who has since endorsed my artwork and appointed me to her Royal Court as an Agricultural Advisor.

Then last month, I became the Recipient of the Order of the Royal House de Rochefort Original Holy Trinity, Order if Merit. This is given to people who stand up the the Environment, educating the children, and helping humanity. Other recipients are: His Holiness Pope Francis, SAS Prince Albert ll, Robert Weaver, Oprah Winfrey and Kofi Annon.

John says.” My Gardening business is now tied to my art because through Linked-in I have made a connection with a businessman in Vancouver who dehydrates food for soil adamants, but he is also able to take veggies/produce past it’s best and dehydrate those”.

We have contacted the Pattison Group of Overwaite chain President Mr. Glen Clark, and hope to hear back a good response to this project.

The Gardening Guru is in the running for the Best Green Business Award.

Aeron Jensan

Distributer for CITYPOD, Impact Bioenergy, GAIA Dehydrater, Justbiofiber, Surrey Red Wigglers, Captain Recycling owner.

2415626Having invested the last 20 years into the business of picking up junk and garbage and a service called recycling, you could say that I’ve confirmed almost everything we call ‘junk and garbage’ can be recycled.

In the past seven years my focus has been on this transition, teaching others how and what to recycle.  Our service of picking up garbage that is source separated saves our customers money and is an incentive to continue to keep their hauling costs low.

I call it Captain Recycling with a catchy tag, turning your garbage into recycling.

Well before the recent by-laws that prohibit food waste going into the garbage stream, I got busy with about 150 customers; task:  source separate, recycle. We did field studies of source containment for their organics and how to best give us, their hauler, their food waste.  In a 20 litre pail that we re-line each time.  This has worked most effectively, so far.

I calculated that in order to compost up to 1/3 of a growing client base that source separates, I would have to process between 3,000 and 5,000 lbs per month within 3 years.

Composting ‘rapidly’ became a project.  How to process ‘time efficiently’   Very quickly, between 2007 and 2014 the volume increased.  I knew there were mechanical options and they required research. There were no conclusions to this research other than having to buy the machines of choice and use them to compliment one another.

Next step: Develop a greenhouse operation that produces nutritious soil.

I set out to develop Vermiculture and Vermicompost with the end product of these machines.  I’ve learned it’s quite a challenge and that It is quite possible that I could produce more end product than I could store.  How to utilize this product most effectively is one of the biggest challenges.

So far, I have only 2 of 3 machines operational, one being a rotational drum that composts 120 lbs of macerated feedstock per day, called a CITYPOD, the other being a dehydrator that processes 100 lbs in a 9 hour cycle, called a GAIA GC 100.

1b4e5440-9bc7-4b8e-8eb9-a6199eba216a-large

What has brought me together with John is our mutual interest in finding the best use of dehydrated organics.  How to replenish food gardens with a 10 – 1 soil amendment How to process 500 lbs of banana or peppers – into 50 lbs of sterilized dehydrated feedstock and send it to places around the globe that are food starved.

In closure, to best answer ‘why’ am I doing this.  As a business person, hauler, I want to take this weight off my loads.  I pay for weight – so there is a daily economic incentive.

Job creation.  Removing food waste is an average of 40% off my dump fees.  I take this savings and put it into the job creation account of composting with machines.

Reduce carbon emissions by targeting methane, 10 times the effect of carbon on global warming.

Create nutritious soil and fertilizers and dehydrated edible food  – local and global markets

C16/12a “Gabriel’s Journey” with Nora Rose

Choose Positive Living with Sara Troy and her guest Nora Rose aired from March 22nd on.

IMG_0084Nora Rose is a teacher, author, speaker and coach.  Her current book titled “Gabriel’s Journey” is about an 18 year old boy who leaves his family in Naples, Italy to travel by boat to the United States in 1920.  This story is based off the actual life of her grandfather Gabriel Iovino.  After his brother died in WW1 he had a desire to go to America to begin a new life.

Nora Rose grew up in Chicago, Illinois.   She attended St.Bartholomew grade school and Notre Dame High School for Girls.  She went to college in Evanston, IL for her B.A. degree and became a teacher.  She was a teacher at Our Lady of Lourdes in Chicago and then Evanston Illinois District 65. She was also a teacher at B.J. Hooper School in Lindenhurst Illinois for 1st and 3rd grade.  She went on to get her Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from National College of Education.  At this time she moved with her husband to Wisconsin and raised three daughters.  She started  a child care center name Roots & Wings which she owned and operated for 22 years.  When her children were young she brought them to work with her.  Many years later she went back to college at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin for a communication degree.  She started substitute teaching and wrote a book titled The Story-Telling Cottage in 1997.  She was in the process of rewriting this book to make it better when a whole new book evolved as Gabriel’s Journey.

In 2010 she was caring for her mother who had diabetes, hernias and a weak heart. In 2014, her mother died and Nora had a difficult time grieving over the loss of her mother and her business.  At this time she also lost her business.  Her whole life changed.  To learn how to think more clearly and better,   she went to a one year workshop with the Canfield Training team and Jack Canfield to become a certified Life Coach.  Where she learned many tools and techniques to help people create a better life. She included a picture of Jack Canfield on the back cover with herself to show readers that teachers and mentors want you to learn new ideas and concepts to make your life better.  Nora believes learning is a lifelong process.  We are always looking for new teachers as we grow and change throughout life.

This inspiring story encourages readers to believe in their dreams and to connect with their own family history.  All families started somewhere and it’s interesting conversation to find out from where and how they got here.  The book includes beautiful illustrations to enhance the adventure.

timthumbPartnering with an illustrator who listened to her vision then created it was truly a magical experience.  It was just as much fun to create the illustrations as it was to write the story.  She absolutely loves the illustrations!

She also did many hours of research in the archives of Ellis Island in New York to include original documents from Ellis Island  in the book.  When students learn that she had to do extensive research before writing this story they are in awe.  I was teaching a 5th grade class how to do research for an assignment and after we were done with the lesson I took out my book to share with them.  It made it real for them.  To see how their substitute teacher did research and wrote a book from it made then realize that this is possible for them to do.  Real people write books not just people in hollywood or famous people.  They were very inspired.

In the back of the book Nora included how to make a vision board so readers can create one of their own to help reach a goal they might have.  She also included a passport activity so readers can make a passport to think about where in the world they would like to travel.
